Welcome to STARK !
Single-cell Transcription stARt site Knowledgebase — exploring the landscape of TSS usage across diverse cell types and disease conditions.

What is TSS?
A transcription start site (TSS) is where RNA polymerase II begins transcribing a gene. In single-cell RNA-seq, TSS usage is inferred from read 5′ ends, revealing alternative promoter usage across cell types and conditions.
This landscape reflects enhancer–promoter interactions and chromatin states. STARK catalogs both annotated and novel TSS regions from hundreds of scRNA-seq samples, enabling the study of transcriptional regulation in cancer at single-cell resolution.
